Couch I
Summer 2000
This piece barely made it out of the prototype stage, and
represents Mr. Millers first attempt at more difficult furniture
projects.

Simple Table
December 2001
Completed in a single day almost as a dare, this piece represents
Mr. Miller's first foray into the world of the wood planer.
A simple and light finish brings out the complexities of the
pine wood grain structure. Mr Miller painstakenly collected
the wood for this piece from the bin of the local Home Depot
wood yard.

Arm-Chair I
Summer 2000
Like the couch, this chair is underwent various improvements.
Seen here in January 2001, it had seen much better days. Assembled
completely with dowels and glue, it could not withstand the
rigors of the Christmas season. Mr. Miller has since begun
using modern hardware for chair construction. This chair was
permanently taken out of service in September 2004.

Free-Standing Shelves
February 2001
The design of these shelves were conceived in a dream, and
completed in a day. This is a strong example of an chaotic
design process, where, begining with a design, a series of
accidents and mistakes combined to create this final product.

Speaker Stand
February 2001
The 90 degree angle is the most convienent angle to produce
using wood working tools. These speaker stands were conceived
in an attempt to push the square to new levels of visual interest.
In this piece, the interplay of light and shadow across the
right angles is enhanced by rotating the traditional building
elements and introducing subtle, almost imperceptable, angular
features.
